College Day

My class adopted Notre Dame as their class college this year. They have been more than generous in giving my students an inside look at the Indiana campus. In October, three San Antonio natives, who are currently enrolled at Notre Dame, came to the class to discuss the imprtance of education. They answered all the students questions and got them very excited about attending college. For this years college day each student was given a Notre Dame t-shirt to wear to school. GO IRISH!!!

Ag in the City

The fourth graders at Gates elementary were one of the few fourth grade classes that were choosen to participate in the first annual Ag in the City fair at Burbank HS. There the students got to see a sheep being shaved and were given samples of their wool. They also visited a bee keeper, saw a dairy farmer milking a cow, felt a snake, planted turnips, tasted salsa, and saw a floral arranging demonstration. It was a wonderful experience!

First Nine Weeks

The first nine weeks has come and gone! We have been very productive! We had the honor of having 3 Notre Dame students coming into the classroom and talking to us about the importance of college! The students had many questions and the visit was very informative! Our class is even pictured on the SAISD website with the three speakers! Way Cool!
We have completed two projects, a character study on Because of Winn Dixie and a How To project! The kids did a great job!
I look foward to the second nine weeks! With the holidays coming up, I'm sure it will go quickly as well!
