Beginner Band Supplies

All students need to have the following in class EVERY DAY!
Mouthpiece
Instrument
Band Journal
Pencil
Essential Elements 2000 Book 1 for their instrument.
Many students are doing a great job of meeting Poe's School Norms by being prepared every day, but there is still a large number of beginner students who are consistently forgetting to bring their required supplies to class. We need all five of these items every day for our rehearsals! I cannot stress enough the importance of coming to class Prepared! (It does harm student grades when they are not prepared, as our Daily grades are based on class participation and improvement in musical skills)
Slowly, students are bringing in their Essential Elements books. We have a handful of books available for students to borrow, but these may not leave the band hall, and there are not enough for all students to have one in each class if only using our set of books. If your family has special needs regarding class supplies, please do not hesitate to call Mrs. Nowlin at 210-332-7235.

Upcoming Event: SAISD Marching Showcase

The Annual SAISD Marching Showcase is next TUESDAY October 6th! Our Mighty Tiger Symphonic Band will be giving their first performance of the year at this event! Our performance time is shortly after 7:00 for anyone planning to come, listen, and support the Poe Mighty Tiger Band!
Symphonic Band students need to report to the band hall directly after school on Tuesday so we can load instruments and eat. The buses will leave Poe at 5:00 p.m. and go to Alamo Stadium, where we will listen to and watch the other SAISD band programs perform until it is our turn. We will be playing together with the Page Pony Band and the Bonham Academy Band. We will stay to watch all of the performances before we return to Poe at 9:00 p.m.
Please plan ahead to pick up your student at Poe Middle School at 9:30 p.m., when we expect to arrive back from Alamo Stadium!
If you have any questions about this event (it is required for all Symphonic Band members), or would like to be a chaperone for this event, please call Mrs. Nowlin at 210-332-7235!
