Welcome 2009-2010

My Email address: bhoelscher@saisd.net
My Conference: 2nd period 9:45 - 10:35 am, or by appointment (after school).
Tutoring: Tuedsday, Wednesday, Thursday (every week) Room 205 after school 3:50-4:40 pm.
1st Grading Period:
Students will be representing number and fractions in equivalent forms. They will be able to compare and order whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Students will identify factors, prime factors, common factors, and greatest common factors of sets of numbers. Students will begin practicing multiple problem solving methods to find solutions to real world problems. Students will begin learning to use CORNELL NOTES, and we will be writing class notes in CORNELL NOTES format in their composition books for math.
Homework:
Will be assigned (6-10 problems generally) about 4 nights a week for current topics. The HW will be assigned in the issued student's red Practice Workbook (WB). The WB will be carried by the students in thier binder. (If a student loses the WB, they will need to go through the office to purchase a replacement copy.)
Assessments:
Are conducted as each topic is being covered, as well as some review of previous material. Daily warm up problems point out problem areas to address and help to insure student mastery. There will be a quiz weekly.
