Salutations, Harris Hawks!
It's hard to believe we are now in our last
9 weeks, but it's true!! Only 7 more weeks of 7th grade!! We need to go out with a
bang,
not like the
Dodo into quiet
extinction.
In the past two weeks, since the 3rd semester ended, Science Students have learned about
Seasons, the Earth's orbit around the Sun and its effect on daylight and time, The
Lunar Cycle,
Eclipses, and Tides.
Next week, April 20-23 (no school on Friday - Fiesta Parade!), we will still be experimenting with Seasons and Lunar Cycles, and starting on Photosynthesis!
Week 4 is a TAKS weekso we will be ready to accomplish a lot!
During weeks 5-8, we will explore the
Environment, one of my favorite subjects! The students will confront major questions, such as:
What is photosynthesis?
Why do organisms need food, water, air and living space?
How do living things get what they need to live?
What are the 5 levels of environmental organization?
What is the difference between abiotic and biotic?
How does ecological succession help an ecosystem stay balanced?
What are the three major climate zones?
How do the different biomes support different varieties of organisms?
I look forward to providing our Science Students with challenging experiences, including at least 2 days a week of hands-on lab activities.
Go Forth and Explore!!
