First Nine Weeks in my Class
This nine weeks, students will begin by reading the short story Mrs. Flowers, by Maya Angelou. As a follow-up, they will write about an autobiographical incident. Next, students will be reading the novel The Giver, by Lois Lowry. Students will be asked to analyze the characters and the plot, as well as make inferences. We will focus on higher level questioning and critical thinking skills. We will work from the SpringBoard workbook and the Literature book. This year's SpringBoard theme is Heroism.
